Main duties of the job

Norfolk Primary Care is seeking a friendly, organised and compassionate Receptionist to join our Vulnerable Adult Service based at Under One Roof in Norwich.

This is an exciting opportunity to become the first point of contact for patients, visitors and partner organisations, providing a professional and welcoming reception service while supporting the wider clinical and administrative team.

The successful candidate will be confident working in a busy environment, able to prioritise competing demands and committed to delivering excellent customer service to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

This role requires a full-time onsite presence due to the nature of the service and patient-facing responsibilities.

Job responsibilities

  • Welcome patients, visitors and professionals in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage appointments and maintain an efficient appointment system.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to enquiries and direct calls appropriately.
  • Register new patients and update patient records accurately.
  • Process clinical correspondence, electronic tasks and administrative requests.
  • Support clinicians and support workers with administrative duties.
  • Liaise with prescription, scanning and clinical teams to resolve patient queries.
  • Maintain accurate electronic patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist with clinic administration and the day-to-day running of reception.
  • Comply with data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a high-quality service.

Essential

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in a reception, customer service or administrative role.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.

Desirable

  • Any of the following would be advantageous, but training will be provided:
  • Previous NHS, GP practice or healthcare reception experience.
  • Experience using SystmOne.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable adults or working within health or social care.
  • Knowledge of NHS services and patient pathways.
  • Experience working with external agencies and partner organisations
