Refuse Loader Location: Pershore, Worcestershire, England Employment Type: Full-time Department: Waste & Recycling Services Job Purpose We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Refuse Loader to join our clients waste and recycling collection team in Pershore. You will work as part of a crew collecting household waste and recycling from residential properties, helping to keep local communities clean, safe and tidy. Key Responsibilities Collect household refuse and recycling from designated properties and routes. Load waste and recycling containers safely onto collection vehicles. Work efficiently as part of a small collection crew. Follow designated collection routes and instructions from the driver or supervisor. Handle waste safely and report any hazardous or unusual items. Maintain a high standard of health, safety and cleanliness at all times. Return bins and containers to an appropriate position after collection. Report damaged bins, missed collections, access problems or other issues. Communicate courteously and professionally with members of the public. Carry out other reasonable duties associated with the refuse collection service. Person SpecificationEssential Physically fit and able to undertake manual, outdoor work. Comfortable working in all weather conditions. Reliable, punctual and committed to good attendance. Able to work effectively as part of a team. Good awareness of health and safety procedures. Able to follow instructions and work to agreed schedules. Professional and respectful approach when dealing with residents. Willingness to handle refuse and recycling as part of the role. Desirable Previous experience in refuse collection, waste management, environmental services or another physically demanding role. Knowledge of local roads and residential areas around Pershore and Worcestershire. Previous experience working around commercial vehicles. Basic understanding of waste and recycling procedures. Working Conditions This is a physically demanding outdoor role. The successful candidate will be required to walk and stand for extended periods and repeatedly lift, move and load waste and recycling containers. The role involves working in varying weather conditions and may involve early morning starts. Full training will be provided, including appropriate health and safety and manual-handling procedures.
