This is an opportunity to lead a high-performing team in a home that has achieved a very positive Care Inspectorate rating this year, with the autonomy and support to maintain and further enhance outstanding standards of care. You will be rewarded with a competitive salary of £75,000 and the chance to drive meaningful, measurable outcomes for residents and staff alike. About the Role: As the Registered Care Home Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the operational and clinical leadership of a large elderly care home with a focus on dementia and mental health. You will ensure the delivery of safe, person-centred care, maintain regulatory compliance, and uphold the home’s strong Care Inspectorate ratings. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will lead service development, drive continuous improvement, and create a stable, supportive environment for residents, families, and staff. Key Responsibilities: * Provide visible leadership and day-to-day management of the care home, ensuring high standards of clinical and personal care for elderly residents with dementia and mental health needs. * Oversee and manage the nursing and care teams, including recruitment, induction, supervision, performance management, and staff development. * Ensure full compliance with Care Inspectorate regulations, internal policies, and best practice guidelines, maintaining and improving the home’s positive inspection outcomes. * Lead care planning and review processes, ensuring assessments and documentation are accurate, person-centred, and reflective of residents’ changing needs. * Manage the home’s budget, staffing levels, and resource allocation to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective service delivery. * Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, external professionals, and regulatory bodies, acting as the primary point of contact for the home. * Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives, using audits, feedback, and incident analysis to enhance care quality and resident experience. * Oversee health and safety, safeguarding, and risk management within the home, ensuring prompt and effective responses to any concerns or incidents. Key Requirements: * Current registration as a Registered Nurse (NMC) with relevant clinical experience in elderly care. * Minimum of 2 years’ management experience in a care home or similar healthcare setting, with responsibility for staff and service delivery. * Proven experience working with residents living with dementia and mental health conditions in an elderly care environment. * Strong understanding of Care Inspectorate standards, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance processes in Scotland. * Demonstrable ability to lead, motivate, and develop multidisciplinary teams in a large care home setting. * Strong organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and competing priorities. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, staff, and external stakeholders. * Confident in using care management systems and IT tools for reporting, documentation, and communication. Desirable Skills: * Experience managing a large care home or multi-unit service with complex care needs. * Additional training or expertise in dementia care and mental health for older adults. * Experience in service development, change management, or turnaround projects within care homes. * Track record of achieving or maintaining positive Care Inspectorate ratings or equivalent regulatory outcomes. * Experience in budget management and financial oversight within a healthcare or care home setting. Qualifications: * Registered Nurse qualification (RN) with active NMC registration – essential. * Formal management or leadership qualification (e.g. ILM, NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care, or equivalent) – strongly preferred. * Evidence of ongoing professional development in dementia care, mental health, or elderly nursing – desirable. * Relevant health and social care qualifications at degree level or equivalent experience – desirable. If you are a Registered Nurse with proven management experience and a commitment to high-quality dementia and mental health care for the elderly, this role offers a significant opportunity to lead a successful, well-rated home and make a lasting difference.
