Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a highly organised and proactive Work Planner to join our Responsive & Planned Repairs service within Landlord Services.

This role is central to delivering an efficient, customer-focused repairs service to our tenants. You will be responsible for planning and scheduling emergency repairs, day-to-day maintenance, and planned works across our tenanted housing stock, ensuring operatives are fully utilised and tenants receive a high-quality, responsive service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work Scheduling & Planning: Organise and programme repairs and maintenance work for tenanted properties, ensuring operatives are deployed efficiently throughout the working day.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency repairs by redeploying operatives quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants and service delivery.
  • Tenant Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for tenants, providing updates on appointment times, managing expectations, and resolving issues promptly.
  • Resource Management: Allocate work based on operatives’ skills and availability, ensuring maximum productivity and effective use of labour, materials, and plant.
  • Operational Coordination: Maintain regular contact with operatives throughout the day, resolving issues, arranging follow‑on works, and ensuring jobs are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Performance Monitoring: Review workloads and resource allocation regularly, adjusting plans to meet demand and maintain service standards.
  • Systems & Administration: Accurately record job details, variations, and completions using scheduling systems such as Orchard, Opti‑time, and other digital platforms.
  • Absence & Diary Management: Manage operatives’ diaries, including annual leave, sickness, and availability, ensuring continuity of service delivery.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Housing Service Centre, Site Agents, and other teams to deliver a seamless and customer-focused repairs service.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: ONC in Business Studies or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of repairs and maintenance operations, ideally within a housing environment.
  • Experience of planning and scheduling work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and scheduling systems.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of repairs processes, materials, and service delivery within tenanted properties.
  • Experience of using Opti‑time, Project Planner, and Orchard systems.
  • Knowledge of the Wrexham County Borough area.
