  • Develop a thorough understanding of current and future workload demands, monitoring lawyer capacity, utilisation and availability.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to make informed staffing decisions that balance client requirements, lawyer development and commercial objectives.
  • Provide data-driven insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making, budgeting and headcount planning.
  • Identify upcoming resource challenges and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal deployment of legal talent.
  • Work collaboratively with Partners and business leaders to improve utilisation, productivity and overall team performance.
  • Support workforce forecasting and longer-term people planning initiatives.
  • Promote fair and balanced allocation of work, ensuring opportunities are distributed equitably across the team.

  • Support the integration of new joiners, returners and secondees through effective work allocation and onboarding support.
  • Explore alternative resourcing solutions where appropriate, including flexible legal resource, project support, process improvement initiatives and emerging legal technology solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement across resource management processes, reporting and best practice.
  • Manage and develop more junior members of the resource management team.
  • Work closely with colleagues across wider business functions to support strategic projects and firm-wide initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous Resource Management, Workforce Planning or Talent Deployment experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proven experience managing and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how resourcing decisions impact profitability, utilisation and business performance.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret workforce data and provide meaningful recommendations.
  • Strong people management experience with the confidence to coach, mentor and develop others.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced, complex and stakeholder-driven environment.
  • A genuine interest in talent development, employee engagement and creating positive team outcomes.
