Job Description

Overview of Role

The Risk Manager is responsible for tasking and reporting to the Project Manager and Joint Project Team (JPT) and Client Project Manager and has a key role throughout the project lifecycle. The Risk Manager will identify, analyse and respond to any risks that arise over the life cycle of the project to help ensure the project remains on track and meets its goal.

Infrastructure delivery is a challenging environment in which to work, with interdependencies between the required programmes and projects and the need to maintain military outputs. The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective application of programme and project management skills, tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the refresh and ongoing management of the Tranche 0 risk register, supporting other programme tranches as required.

Chair monthly risk review meetings, facilitate risk workshops, produce meeting minutes, and provide risk dashboards highlighting key changes and trends.

⚠️ Identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities, supporting the development of effective mitigation strategies.

Conduct critical reviews of risk registers with project teams to ensure risks are appropriate, manageable, and free from duplication.

✅ Track mitigation actions and monitor risk reduction progress across the programme.

Support Quantitative Risk Analysis activities, including:

  • Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA / SRA)
  • Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA / CRA)
  • Quarterly risk modelling and reporting

Work closely with Change Management teams to capture and assess programme impacts.

Lead assumptions management and maintain the Master Data & Assumptions List (MDAL).

Provide strategic risk reporting, profiling risk exposure across programme timelines and activities.

Build strong relationships with project teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and industry partners to support successful delivery.

Monitor supplier performance across quality, cost, schedule, and reliability, proactively managing emerging risks.

️ Ensure compliance with all programme, Client, and infrastructure governance processes and procedures.


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

✅ What We're Looking For

Strong knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and risk management processes

Experience managing risk on major infrastructure, defence, engineering, or construction programmes

Ability to analyse complex data, identify trends, and provide strategic risk insights

Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills

Experience facilitating risk workshops, reviews, and mitigation planning

Proficient in Microsoft Office and risk management tools

Qualifications & Experience

✅ Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, including 2 years in a management role

✅ Experience with risk analysis, reporting, and governance

⭐ Professional body membership desirable



Additional Information

Umbrella contractor role

SC Clearance required to start

This is a site-based role, and the incumbent will be expected to work 3 days per week from site
