Job summary

We are looking for a 4-5 session salaried GP to join our very friendly practice based in the thriving and bustling market town of Northallerton (close to a Betty's tea shop!). Northallerton is the county town in the heart of Herriot countryside. It is on the East Coast main rail line and the A1 is 10 minutes drive away.

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Main duties of the job

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, online consultations, home visits, care home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Developing care plans for patients.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compiling and issuing acute and repeat prescriptions, typically computer-generated

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Assist and be involved with training other team members including GPSTs and F2 doctors.

About us

Mayford House is a dispensing practice with a list of about 10,000 patients. We use SystmOne but training can be provided for unfamiliar candidates. We are a 4 partner, well established training practice for GPSTs, F2 doctors, and medical students. We have 5 salaried GPs and an ANP. Full range of GMS services offered, and also coil, implant and pessary fits and removals, plus joint injections. We have high QOF attainment and a recent CQC good rating, with some areas outstanding. We are also a research site, including commercial studies.

Low home visit requirement (paramedic linked to the surgery).

Practice pharmacist team managing medication queries, prescription changes, medication reviews.

Letter management team dealing with discharge letters and coding.

Frailty nurse invaluable with liaising with our local nursing homes.

Physiotherapist triaging first presentation of MSK problems.

Social prescriber providing additional support.

Care navigators use toolkits to triage consultation requests.

Active members of Hambleton North PCN, Heartbeat Alliance (local federation) and our LMC.

Dementia friendly and Veteran friendly practice.

Follow the RCGP and Marie Curie Daffodil standards for Palliative Care.
