Job summary

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated GPs to join our friendly, innovative team. We are flexible in our approach and would welcome applications for 4 - 8 sessions per week.

We have a strong patient centred ethos maintaining 'usual doctor' lists to achieve continuity and a high standard of care. We are proud to have been able to maintain a traditional mainly face to face appointment system with no triage and no duty doctor!

Main duties of the job

Provide high quality patient care

Carry out face to face and telephone consultations and undertake home visits

Liaise with other team members and organisations involved in patient care and respond promptly to queries

Investigate and refer patients as appropriate in line with current guidance

Deal promptly with results and correspondence

Collect data for audit and QOF purposes

Excellent communication with patients and carers

Attend clinical, clinical governance and educational meetings

Strong team player

Strong collaborative working relationships with partners and all team members

Effectively manage own time, workload and resources

Attend required training events e.g. PLT and feedback

Reporting of Significant Incidents involving the practice

About us

We are a 3 partner GMS dispensing practice serving a largely rural community just outside Scarborough, situated on the edge of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors but only minutes drive from the coast. We are within reasonable driving distance (40 mins) of the historic City of York.

  • List size just over 9800 patients

  • Salary - Starting from £11,900 per session, per annum

Job responsibilities

  • Provide high quality patient care including prevention, screening, treatment, management of chronic conditions and health promotion
  • Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice protocols as well as wider guidance e.g. NICE
  • Carry out face to face, telephone consultations and undertake home visits
  • Speak and see patients promptly and in a timely manner. In order to minimise waiting times.
  • Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
  • Generate, check and sign acute and repeat prescriptions in-line with practice policy
  • Liaise with other team members and organisations involved in patient care and respond promptly to queries
  • Investigate and refer patients as appropriate in line with current guidance
  • Deal promptly with results and correspondence, clearly communicating any actions that are required
  • Provide cover as needed, for all of the above, when other GPs are on leave
  • When providing care ensure the judicious use of resources and NHS funds
  • Keep clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes and patient records to agreed standards and in-line with practice policies
  • Collect data for audit and QOF purposes
  • Prescribe in accordance with the Practice formulary, commissioning and national guidance
  • Maintain high levels of communication with patients and carers to ensure effective delivery of care

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • A vocational trained and accredited GP.
  • Current registration with the GMC.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • IT proficiency and familiarity with primary care clinical systems (the practice use SystmOne).
  • Excellent time keeping.
  • Team player.
  • Good understanding of GMS contracting requirements.

Desirable

  • Good understanding of GMS contracting requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of QoF requirements
  • Experience and an interest in a specific disease area
