Job summary

We are looking for a salaried GP to join our large, friendly doctor team for 6 - 8 sessions per week. Start date is negotiable.

We are a dynamic, progressive, modern general practice in the county town of Wiltshire with over 30,000 registered patients. Our large size enables us to be flexible employers. We have two sites, and you would be required to work across both.

We provide a caring and supportive environment for all our staff and benefit from a well-used doctors administration room and the fact that we are a long-established training practice.

In addition, we benefit from the support of an excellent clinical, administrative & management team working alongside the doctor team.

We have a strong track record of supporting newly qualified GPs through their first year of practice.

Main duties of the job

To provide safe and effective patient care:

Face to face and telephone consultations

Duty sessions

Home visits

Process clinical related admin and other admin relating to patients.

Nursing & HCA team treatment room, chronic disease management, phlebotomy.

On the day team nurse practitioners, paramedics

Transforming Care of the Elderly (TCOP) team including mental health nurse, pharmacists, care coordinators, elderly care practitioner.

Network Team primary care mental health nurses, first contact physios, prescribing team, dieticians, social prescribers & care coordinators.

The THC site benefits from an excellent Doctors Admin Room. This is a place to work, meet your colleagues and for communication (both clinical & non-clinical).

We are a long-established training practice (ST & medical students).

Other highlights: the home visiting commitment is light, regular education meetings in house & external speaker, document management team fewer scans assigned to doctors, designated secretary, great managers, clinical trials.

Job responsibilities

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Consultations - carry out patient consultations either face to face or using agreed technologies.
  • Participate in the duty doctor role, based on fair share system.
  • Undertake home visits as required
  • Manage own patient related administration tasks including referrals, results, patient queries, and investigations.
  • Attend practice meetings.
  • Keep up to date with all training requirements.
