The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced
SC Cleared Content Designer
to join a major public sector digital transformation programme delivering user-centred, accessible services. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will lead content design activities across complex digital services, ensuring content is clear, accessible and aligned with user needs. You will collaborate closely with designers, researchers, business analysts and stakeholders to create high-quality service content that meets Government standards and best practice. This role is ideal for a contractor with strong GDS experience who enjoys working on complex services with real-world impact.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver user-centred content across digital services and journeys Create effective service content, transactional content and microcopy Apply GDS content standards, patterns and best practices Ensure content meets accessibility and inclusive design requirements Use user research insights and evidence to inform content decisions Work closely with User Researchers, Service Designers, Interaction Designers and Business Analysts Facilitate discussions and confidently present content recommendations to stakeholders Contribute to continuous improvement of content and service experiences
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Content Designer within UK Government or public sector digital services Strong knowledge of GDS standards, guidance and content design practices Experience creating service content and microcopy for complex digital services Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive content design Experience working within multidisciplinary UCD teams Ability to interpret and apply user research findings Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Active SC Clearance
Technical Environment
Experience with the following tools is advantageous: GOV.UK Design System GOV.UK Prototyping Kit Jira Miro Figma Confluence
Desirable Experience
Experience using the GOV.UK Prototyping Kit Previous work within Government or wider public sector environments Experience delivering content for finance, accountancy or other complex transactional services Experience working within highly regulated environments This is an excellent opportunity for an
