Job Title: School Caretaker Location: Enfield Salary: £16–£18 per hour (Depending on Experience) Contract: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent Hours: 8:00am–16:00pm Start: September 2026 About the Role Complete Classroom Services are seeking an experienced and dedicated School Caretaker to support the day-to-day running, maintenance, security, and cleanliness of a school site in Enfield. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a caretaker within a school environment, with practical maintenance skills and a strong understanding of the importance of maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils and staff. Key Responsibilities * Overseeing the security, safety, and cleanliness of the school site * Carrying out general maintenance, minor repairs, decorating, and basic plumbing * Conducting regular inspections of the school premises and identifying repairs or improvements required * Opening and locking up the school site, including early mornings and occasional evenings * Monitoring the condition of buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment * Carrying out routine checks and reporting any issues requiring specialist attention * Liaising with and supervising contractors when required * Responding promptly to emergencies such as leaks, break-ins, or fire alarms * Supporting school events with site set-up, room preparation, and general logistics * Ensuring the school premises remain safe, clean, secure, and well maintained * Reporting any significant maintenance or safeguarding concerns to the appropriate member of school leadership The Ideal Candidate Will Have * Previous experience working as a caretaker in a school environment – essential * Practical maintenance skills, including basic plumbing, decorating, and minor repairs * Good knowledge of school site security, safety, and general maintenance * Strong organisational and communication skills * The ability to work independently and as part of a team * A professional, reliable, and proactive approach * High standards of personal integrity and professionalism * A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children * Flexibility and the ability to respond effectively to maintenance issues and emergencies * A full, clean driving licence is desirable What the School Offers * A supportive and friendly working environment * Opportunities for training and professional development * A welcoming school community that values its caretaking team * A varied and rewarding role with responsibility and autonomy How to Apply Apply for role with your updated CV
