About the Role We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a major HS2 delivery team based in Greatworth. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of ancillary works packages, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality construction across one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex civil engineering works within a Tier 1 contracting environment Key Responsibilities Manage engineering activities associated with ancillary works packages. Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications and programme requirements. Provide technical support to site teams, subcontractors and construction management. Review drawings, specifications, RFIs and engineering documentation. Oversee setting out activities and ensure all work meets required tolerances. Produce and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality records and as-built documentation. Monitor progress against programme and identify opportunities to improve productivity. Support the management of temporary works and ensure compliance with procedures. Coordinate interfaces between earthworks, drainage, utilities, highways and structures teams. Ensure compliance with HS2, client and company health, safety and environmental standards. Assist with planning, risk management and construction sequencing. Mentor Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers where required. Required Experience Previous experience working as a Section Engineer, Senior Engineer or Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects. Strong experience delivering ancillary works packages including: Drainage Utility diversions Service routes Temporary works Access roads Earthworks interfaces Highways and infrastructure support works Proven setting out and surveying experience. Strong understanding of quality assurance, ITPs and engineering documentation. Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Qualifications Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline. CSCS Card. SMSTS or SSSTS desirable. Temporary Works knowledge beneficial. Full UK Driving Licence. Desirable Experience Previous experience working on HS2 or other major infrastructure projects. Experience on projects delivered by Tier 1 contractors or major joint ventures. Knowledge of NEC contracts and change management processes. Experience across highways, rail, heavy civils or large-scale earthworks environments
