We are currently working with schools in Leighton Buzzard who are looking for caring, patient, and motivated SEN Teaching Assistants to join their support teams. This SEN Teaching Assistant role in Leighton Buzzard would suit someone who enjoys working with children and is committed to helping pupils with additional needs thrive both academically and personally.
You will support pupils with a range of profound and complex needs, providing individualised assistance throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support based on individual pupil needs
Assist pupils with learning activities and encourage participation in the classroom
Support personal care, including feeding, toileting, dressing, and mobility, when required
Use communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, symbols, and visual timetables
Assist with the implementation of EHCPs, individual learning plans, and care plans
Work alongside teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide consistent support
Encourage pupils to develop their independence, confidence, and social skills
Help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEN is advantageous
An understanding of complex needs such as ASD, PMLD, and physical disabilities
Naturally patient, compassionate, and approachable
Confident supporting pupils with personal care requirements
Able to build positive relationships with children and work effectively as part of a team
