Calm, Consistent and Ready to Make a Difference?
For a child with social, emotional and mental health needs, the right adult can completely change how they experience school.
Teach Now is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH) for a full-time temporary role in Brent starting September 2026.
This is a rewarding role for someone who understands that behaviour is often communication. As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH), you’ll provide structure, encouragement and appropriate boundaries while helping pupils re-engage with learning.
Your role will involve:
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs individually and in small groups.
Building positive, consistent professional relationships.
Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and resilience.
Using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies.
Supporting academic tasks and differentiated learning.
Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral colleagues.
Recording and communicating relevant observations.
We’re looking for:
Someone with previous SEMH, SEND, behaviour, youth-work or relevant school experience. You’ll need patience, emotional resilience, excellent boundaries and the ability to remain calm when situations become challenging. Team Teach or similar positive-handling/de-escalation training would be advantageous.
In return:
£90–£100 per day, full-time experience in specialist SEN support and an opportunity to develop highly valuable SEMH expertise.
If you’re an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH) ready for meaningful work, apply now.
