full-time Year 8 Nurture Teacher
for a long-term position within a supportive Derby secondary SEND school. This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives in small-group, relational, nurture-based environments and can provide consistency for pupils who need additional emotional, social and academic support. The Role
Teaching a
small Year 8 nurture group
(typically 6-8 pupils)
Delivering a
primary-style, structured, calm curriculum
within a secondary setting
Teaching core subjects at an accessible level (English, maths, science, PHSE)
Supporting pupils with
SEMH, SEND, communication needs, challenging behaviour
Building routines, confidence and readiness for learning
Working closely with the SENDCo, pastoral team and parents
Full-time hours:
MondayFriday, 8:30am3:30pm
What Were Looking For
QTS (Primary, Secondary or SEND routes all considered)
Experience or interest in working with nurture groups, SEND or small-group teaching
A relational, trauma-informed approach
Someone calm, consistent and able to build trust
Commitment to long-term stability for pupils
