The Education and Lifelong Learning Directorate provides the strategic, professional and operational support to enable the Council to fulfil its responsibilities for early years education, statutory age education, education in school sixth forms and a youth service.

There are 127 schools in Cardiff across Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Special schools.

The work of the Directorate is organised into six service areas: Partnerships & Performance, Inclusion Services, Targeted Services, Key Groups, Services to Schools, and School Organisation and Access and Planning.

Each of these supports the overall purpose of improving the achievement of learners.

About the job

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly efficient individual to join the Secondary Admissions Team within the Education Directorate.

This is a key role responsible for the allocation of school places in Cardiff, both annually and in – year, in accordance with the Council’s School Admissions Policy.

You will have knowledge of the admissions policy and translating requirements into practice, experience of working under pressure and to national deadlines and of working with members of the public, particularly in stressful or challenging circumstances.

This is a challenging position requiring a ‘can do’ attitude, resilience and determination to deliver an excellent customer service at all times. You must have excellent communication and organisational skills and a willingness to support the team to continually improve customer service by embracing digital solutions

What We Are Looking For From You

To support the administration of the Cardiff Admissions Policy, to ensure that all admissions applications are processed in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with agreed protocols and processes, in particular In Year admissions.

To ensure that all data and management information for primary school in year admissions is recorded and presented in timely reports.

To support the management of complaints and complex admissions cases.
