An award-winning, boutique law firm with a reputation as one of the market leaders advising clients across the entertainment, media, sport and wider creative industries is looking for a Senior Associate – with in-house experience considered a definite positive.

The Opportunity

Rather than being confined to a single sector, you will advise across the full range of industries the firm supports – from sport and broadcast to wider media, entertainment and creative businesses. That breadth is a deliberate feature of the role: you will work on a varied mix of commercial agreements without the narrower sector boundaries that often come with practising in a more traditionally siloed team.

Candidates with in-house experience are very welcome to apply. The partner leading this practice is especially keen to meet lawyers who have combined time at a reputable firm with an in-house stint, given the insight that experience brings into how legal teams collaborate with the business and the commercial – not just legal – challenges in-house teams face day to day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters across the media, sport and entertainment sectors.
  • Advising on the sale and acquisition of media and broadcast rights, including sports media rights.
  • Advising on production and licensing arrangements.
  • Advising artists on commercial matters, including representation agreements.
  • Working across a range of related commercial agreements as the practice's remit develops, rather than being restricted to a single sector or transaction type.
  • Contributing directly to the strategy, positioning and growth of a new practice area, including business development from an early stage.

About You

  • c.5-8 years' PQE, with strong technical grounding in commercial contracts within media, entertainment, sport or related creative industries.
  • Trained and qualified with a reputable law firm, with in-house experience also highly valued (see above).
  • A genuine appetite to help build a practice area from an early stage, rather than step into an established team.
  • Ambition to progress towards partnership, and the drive and commercial instinct to help make the case for it.

Much more information will be made available upon request by suitable candidates.

Our clients are committed to inclusion and diversity; are proud to provide equal opportunity workplaces; and will evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, religion or belief, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or gender assignment, marital or civil partnership status, disability, pregnancy, childbirth or any other characteristic protected by law.

Interested candidates should send their CV to Nick Wasserman for consideration. All successful candidates will be contacted within 5 working days of application. xwzovoh Due to the high volume of applications we receive, though, we are not always able to respond directly to everyone, but we will try our very best.
