We are currently working in partnership with a trusted challenger in UK property services, who are looking to appoint a Senior Building Surveyor on a 3-month temporary contract.

This will be a full-time position based in London Victoria, with hybrid working available (a minimum of two days per week in the office), alongside occasional travel to client offices and site visits across north London.


The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with experience delivering a wide range of professional building surveying services, including technical due diligence, contract administration and condition surveys, whilst building strong client relationships and providing expert technical advice.


Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a varied portfolio of building surveying instructions from inception through to completion
  • Delivering Building Surveying services across RIBA Stages 1–6 on public sector residential refurbishment projects
  • Undertaking building surveys, technical due diligence, defect diagnosis and condition assessments
  • Preparing technical reports, specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
  • Administering construction contracts and monitoring projects throughout delivery
  • Providing professional advice on maintenance strategies, statutory compliance, fire safety and building safety
  • Developing planned maintenance programmes and lifecycle recommendations
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors
  • Identifying project risks and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Supporting business development by identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to continuous improvement across the team


Experience required:

  • Experience delivering professional building surveying services across a varied property portfolio
  • Experience undertaking technical due diligence, condition surveys and defect diagnosis
  • Experience delivering projects across RIBA Stages 1–6
  • Experience in contract administration and project delivery
  • Experience providing advice on statutory compliance, maintenance obligations and building safety


Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience, or working towards chartership with a RICS-accredited Building Surveying degree
  • Strong knowledge of planned preventative maintenance and lifecycle planning
  • Knowledge of fire safety and building safety legislation
  • Experience advising on party wall and neighbourly matters
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent report writing, stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to attend occasional client offices and site visits. Projects are predominantly located across the London boroughs of Barnet, Haringey, Harrow and Southwark, with the possibility of supporting programmes in other boroughs.
