Children's Locum Lawyer

Location: Bolton

Rate: £55 - £65 per hour

CRA Consulting are currently working with a local authority who are seeking an experienced Children's Social Care Locum Lawyer to join their legal services team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children's Lawyer to provide high-quality legal advice and representation, supporting the Council on a range of complex and sensitive matters relating to safeguarding and children's services.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and conducting proceedings across a varied children's law caseload, including:

• Public and private Children Act proceedings


• Care proceedings and safeguarding matters


• Adoption matters


• Forced marriage and female genital mutilation cases


• Education law matters


• Immigration-related issues affecting children

You will work closely with social care teams and wider Council departments, providing clear, practical and solution-focused legal advice.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience working within a local authority or public sector legal team.


• Strong experience in children's social care law and Children Act proceedings.


• Ability to manage a complex caseload independently.


• Excellent advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills.


• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly.


• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
