Job summary

EPUT would like to invite psychologists who are interested in working to support whole person wellbeing to apply for the new Senior PsychologistforBreathlessness post. This post has been created with the support of respiratory and cardiac colleagues across the MSE region focusing on need rather than diagnosis. You will be part of a new service and will be working with another Senior Psychologist and the Lead Principal Psychologist. The Senior Psychologist would be expected to support the Principal Psychologist to develop the service alongside MDT colleagues, partners and people who use the service using co-production approach. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a service in line with the NHS vision for integrated care.

In the initial phase of the service there is an expectation to provide trainingfor MDT colleagues across acute and community care settings. This will focus on using psychological approaches to breathlessness so that our colleagues can share these approaches when undertaking their roles, enabling people to feel empowered to manage their condition more effectively. Supervision spaces will also be a part of this model.

Main duties of the job

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Supporting development of the breathlessness psychology services using co-production approaches
  • Focus on whole person approach in formulation, intervention and consultation to provide excellent service provision across acute and community settings and utilising one to one, group, team level support/training.
  • Making links across mental health and physical health teams to support quality care and shared decision making
  • Local line management and clinical supervision of psychologists in training
  • To offer training and consultation to MDT professionals in mental health liaison and acute hospital staff as appropriate.
  • To work as part of the Clinical Health Psychology service, engaging with peers to support each other and the shared vision for the directorate

Job responsibilities

You will receive support from your Clinical Health Psychology colleagues in South and North and West Essex. Supervision will be provided by the Lead Principal Psychologist for Breathlessness. CPD is actively encouraged, through both internal and external means, as appropriate to post.

  • Has completed DClinPsyc Training or equivalent

  • Has completed further training appropriate to the role

Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrates experience working with people across the age span
  • Demonstrates experience of working with health conditions
  • Demonstrates experience of working with MDT's
  • Demonstrates skills in neuropsychological assessment and intervention
  • Demonstrates skills in consultation and training

Desirable

  • Has expereince of using interventions with health conditions focus
  • Has worked in acute and community settings with health conditions

Knowledge

Essential

  • Has worked in NHS settings or equivalent
  • Has knowledge or research approaches
  • Demonstrates systemic thinking in relation to MDT working
  • Demonstrates awareness of health condition impact on mental health

Desirable

  • Has completed further training in a specialty related to the post to a high level
  • Has knowledge of setting up services/new programmes of work

Interest in the post
