Hours: Minimum 30hrs/wk (over at least 3 days)
Rota: Day shifts / Weekend rota participation required
Salary: £33,000 per annum FTE
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to become Senior Consulting Nurse at Swayne & Partners Bury St Edmunds.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking to develop their consulting skills and take a greater role in delivering nurse-led patient care within a busy hospital environment. You will have the opportunity to build on your existing knowledge and develop your skills across a range of nurse-led clinics and preventative healthcare services.
You will play an important role in developing and promoting our nurse-led services, supporting excellent client communication and helping to ensure our patients receive high-quality, consistent nursing care throughout their journey with us.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the clinical lead for all nurse consultations.
- Ensure consultations are evidence-based and follow current practice protocols.
- Support nurses with complex or challenging consultations.
- Ensure consistent patient care across the consulting team.
- Develop and expand nurse-led clinics.
- Review and improve appointment utilisation.
- Introduce new nurse-led initiatives to increase patient care and practice growth.
- Promote exceptional client communication.
- Support client compliance with preventative healthcare recommendations.
- Improve uptake of preventative healthcare plans and follow-up appointments.
- Develop educational resources for clients.
- Ensure consultation SOPs remain current.
- Coach nurses to build confidence in consultations.
- Support newly qualified RVNs in developing consultation skills.
- Assist SVNs with consultation competencies.
- Deliver in-house CPD focused on consulting skills and communication.
- Work closely with the clinical team to identify cases suitable for nurse-led follow-up.
- Liaise with reception/Vet rota to optimise appointment scheduling and utilisation. xwzovoh
- Work collaboratively with vets, nurses, VCAs, and reception teams
- Contribute to maintaining high clinical and hygiene standards throughout the practice
About You:
- Qualified and registered RVN
- Is a positive role model and can lead by example
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Is proactive, adaptable, and compassionate
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient care and clinical excellence
- Has an interest in developing advanced nursing skills
- Able to commit to at least 30hr week across a minimum of 3 days and participate in the weekend rota.
