Wolviston Management Services is supporting Whessoe Engineering Limited in the recruitment of a Senior Electrical Engineer for its Electrical and Instrumentation team in Darlington. Whessoe Engineering Limited delivers engineering and project solutions for bulk liquid storage terminals, process plants, energy facilities and associated infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects while providing electrical engineering expertise across the business. The role Reporting to the Section Head – Process, Safety and E&I, you will lead and support electrical engineering activities across projects from early concept and FEED through EPC, commissioning and operation. Key responsibilities • Supervise assigned electrical engineers and electrical designers • Produce and check electrical design documentation, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget • Lead the selection and development of electrical systems and control and distribution schemes • Prepare, check and maintain electrical engineering designs and project documentation • Review and evaluate technical documentation provided by vendors • Lead electrical activities on project management consultancy assignments and advise clients on technical matters • Support bid development and prepare man-hour, equipment and materials estimates • Communicate design issues across disciplines and promote continuous improvement throughout the engineering team About you • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology • Experience as an Electrical Engineer within oil and gas, petrochemical or a comparable process engineering environment • Experience across project phases including conceptual studies, FEED, EPC, commissioning and operation • Practical experience using electrical design software such as PTW, Trimble, formerly Amtech, DIALux or StrikeRisk • Working knowledge of relevant European and North American codes, standards and accepted engineering practices • Experience working effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams • The ability to establish priorities and manage deliverables in line with project requirements • Strong technical judgement, communication skills and commercial awareness Chartered Engineer status, experience using SmartPlant Electrical, knowledge of cryogenic materials handling and storage, or previous experience in a Senior or Lead Electrical Engineer position would be advantageous
