Senior Industrial Engineer

Role Overview

Raytheon UK is a powerhouse in defence and aerospace. We are seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer based in Livingston, West Lothian (UK) to support Raytheon sites, functions and customers. The role involves developing and driving innovation within manufacturing and wider functions, from early customer engagement through to volume manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative solutions for new products or processes, contributing to strategic road‑maps focused on factory capacity and investment.
• Support the development of new projects, technologies, or business opportunities.
• Analyse manufacturing system performance to identify opportunities for improvement using industrial engineering tools, techniques and methods.
• Analyse and determine equipment, facilities and support requirements for new products, equipment or processes.
• Provide detailed factory and line layouts using AutoCAD and support planning, costing and implementation of new or changed areas.
• Optimise assembly lines using workflow analysis, time and motion study, ergonomics and human‑factors analysis.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and information to support projects.
• Analyse current or future requirements using simulation tools, value‑stream mapping, data analysis, PFMEA, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Collaborate with engineering and design groups to ensure producibility and effective transition to manufacture.
• Conduct labour estimating for electronic, cable or mechanical assemblies.
• Contribute to factory safety and work‑cell ergonomics.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing Systems Engineering or equivalent experience.
• PC literate, mainly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or simulation modelling tools.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts and statistical analysis, SPC, modelling, queuing theory, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of key cost drivers in project set‑up, development or support.
• Ability to represent Raytheon at all levels for internal and external customers.

Desirable:

• Significant Industrial Engineering experience and extensive knowledge of tools, techniques and methods.
• Experience in developing new processes, areas or expansion including planning, costing and implementation.
• Ability to create detailed information quickly and present effectively at customer or management levels.
• Knowledge of SMT, units and box build, site facilitation, supply chain and material handling.
• Leadership or mentorship experience for other engineers or projects.
• Knowledge of simulation tools such as Witness or similar.

For this role the successful hire must be a permanent UK resident and successfully complete a baseline (BPSS) security and background check.
