Senior Linux System Administrator (DV Cleared) Title: Senior Linux System Administrator Employment: Permanent Location: Reading Salary: £70,000–£100,000, plus a £5,000 DV allowance and a bonus of up to 10% Security clearance: Active and valid DV clearance required Working pattern: Onsite, with the option to work from home every other Friday Hours: 37.5 hours per week An opportunity is available for a DV Cleared Senior Linux System Administrator to join a specialist security team supporting a secure, large-scale big data platform for a UK critical national infrastructure programme. The platform supports a suite of cutting-edge cybersecurity and data science tools, with the team using DevOps methodologies to deliver continuous improvements in response to evolving security requirements. Key Responsibilities * Administer, maintain and optimise Linux server environments across production and development platforms * Manage VMware vSphere/ESXi infrastructure, including virtual machines, resource allocation and host configuration * Develop and maintain automation using Ansible or equivalent tools to streamline deployments, configuration and routine tasks * Develop and maintain Bash and shell scripts * Troubleshoot complex Linux, networking, storage, permissions and performance issues * Support secure IT infrastructure and CI/CD environments * Support interoperability with Windows Server environments where required * Contribute to continuous improvements across a highly secure big data platform Essential Skills * Strong Linux administration experience with RHEL, Rocky Linux or similar * VMware vSphere/ESXi administration * Ansible or equivalent infrastructure automation tools * Bash/shell scripting * Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux environments * Networking, storage and permissions * CI/CD environments and methodologies * IT infrastructure and security experience Desirable Skills * Experience supporting large-scale or complex infrastructure environments * Experience working within DevOps environments * Windows Server knowledge * Experience supporting secure or highly regulated environments * Exposure to big data, cybersecurity or data science platforms Benefits Bonus of up to 10% £5,000 annual DV allowance while working in a role requiring DV clearance Pension scheme with 5% employee and 10% employer contribution Private GP access for you and your immediate family Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave Paid carers leave Holiday purchase scheme Optional healthcare, dental and gym benefits Important Information Applicants must hold active and valid DV clearance Applicants must be UK residents No visa sponsorship is available for this role This role is predominantly on-site, with no fully remote option
