We have a vacancy for a Band 4 Senior Medical Secretary to join our Specialist Medicine Department team on a fixed term basis covering maternity leave. It is essential that the successful applicant is able to work effectively as part of the team supporting and assisting colleagues, whilst prioritising and managing their workload.
Main duties of the job
For the Senior Medical Secretary role you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and be responsible for a range of duties related to patient pathway management, including, but not limited to: managing outpatient and inpatient waiting lists, including arranging elective admissions and booking patients onto theatre lists; validation of patients RTT pathways, rescheduling appointments; minute taking for Clinical Governance meetings as required; diary management; audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters; production of reports and other correspondence as required for the Specialist Medicine services.
You should be literate and numerate, with excellent organizational, time management and IT skills and an ability to work without supervision.
Medical secretarial and admin experience is essential. An audio typing test will be required at interview.
You will have a high standard of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels. You will have enthusiasm, motivation and demonstrate pride in your work.
