Senior Consultant – Power Systems Engineering

Our client is a leading international engineering consultancy delivering technical advisory, design and engineering services across the energy and infrastructure sectors. They are looking to appoint a Senior Consultant – Power Systems Engineering to support the delivery of major transmission and distribution projects across the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of 11kV–400kV AIS and GIS substation projects.
  • Produce electrical design packages, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
  • Act as Lead Project Engineer on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Review supplier designs and participate in FAT/SAT activities.
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulations, CDM and industry standards.
  • Support tendering, project planning, budgeting and technical workshops.
  • Mentor junior engineers and carry out technical design reviews.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in transmission and distribution engineering (7+ with MSc/PhD).
  • Strong substation design experience up to 132kV, ideally 400kV.
  • Expertise in Primary Design, Protection & Control and/or SCADA.
  • Knowledge of UK standards (ENA, IEC, BS, IEEE, ANSI).
  • Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, technical reporting and leadership skills.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, BESC, NSI30 or similar qualifications.
  • Installation and commissioning experience.
  • Manchester (Hybrid)
