SENIOR / PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL ENGINEER Manchester / Liverpool | Hybrid | Infrastructure & Engineering
Mechanical engineering. Big projects. Proper responsibility.
A leading UK infrastructure engineering and advisory business is expanding its Manchester / Liverpool team and is looking for a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of major engineering programmes.
This isn't a role where you'll spend your days simply checking drawings and waiting for the next project to land.
You'll be expected to think, lead, challenge and engineer — working with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions that work in the real world.
Your role
Lead mechanical engineering and design across complex projects
Develop designs from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction
Produce and review calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
Take technical ownership of mechanical packages
Coordinate designs with electrical, civil, structural and wider engineering disciplines
Work closely with clients, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers
Attend design reviews, site meetings and technical workshops
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and technicians
Support project planning, bids, proposals and business development
Help develop engineering standards, processes and best practice What we're looking for
You'll ideally bring:
Significant mechanical engineering/design experience
Experience within building services, infrastructure or multidisciplinary engineering
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and UK design standards
Experience delivering technically complex projects
Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers
CEng / IEng / working towards Chartership would be advantageous
Experience with relevant mechanical design and modelling software Why consider it?
Because your next step shouldn't simply mean more emails, more meetings and a bigger spreadsheet.
At Senior / Principal level, you'll have the opportunity to:
Own technical decisions.
Lead projects.
Develop people.
Influence clients.
Shape the future of engineering.
You'll be joining a collaborative multidisciplinary environment working across some of the UK's most important infrastructure programmes, with genuine opportunities for professional development and progression.
