Wolviston Management Services is supporting Whessoe Engineering Limited with the recruitment of a Senior Process Engineer to join its Process and Process Safety team in Darlington. Whessoe Engineering Limited is an established engineering and project delivery business specialising in bulk liquid storage terminals, process plants, energy facilities and associated infrastructure. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to technically complex projects involving liquefied gases and process facilities, while acting as Lead Process Engineer on smaller assignments. The role Reporting to the Section Head – Process, Safety and E&I, you will undertake process design activities, support Principal and Lead Process Engineers, and provide process engineering expertise across the business. Key responsibilities ◆ Ensure the technical integrity of process designs across assigned projects ◆ Supervise process engineers and coordinate designers and draughting resources ◆ Produce and check project deliverables on time and within agreed budgets ◆ Develop process schemes and operating and control philosophies ◆ Prepare design bases, process descriptions, design philosophies, alarm and trip schedules, and operating and commissioning procedures ◆ Prepare and maintain heat and material balances using HYSYS ◆ Oversee the preparation of process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, line lists and process data sheets ◆ Complete process equipment sizing calculations for piping, instrumentation, pumps, vessels and heat duties ◆ Represent the company during P&ID, HAZOP, SIL and other process safety reviews About you ◆ A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical or Process Engineering, accredited by IChemE ◆ Experience within oil and gas, petrochemical or a comparable process engineering environment ◆ Experience across project phases including conceptual studies, FEED, EPC, commissioning and operation ◆ Practical experience using process design and simulation software, including HYSYS ◆ Experience supervising or supporting other process engineers to achieve project deliverables and targets ◆ Strong self-planning skills, with the ability to deliver work within agreed timescales and man-hours ◆ A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines Chartered Engineer status, SmartPlant P&ID training, or experience involving cryogenic handling and storage, light-end hydrocarbon processing, overseas clients or external design houses would be advantageous
