We are looking for a Senior Project manager to join the Cornwall IT Services (CITS) programme team. Working with colleagues across the Trust and the wider system in Cornwall you will be responsible for leading Digital initiatives that support theDigital strategy, delivering change and innovation to support the delivery of care to our patients.

Successful management and delivery of projects within the Cornwall Health Community, each up to the value of £2 million

Successful management and integration of projects that may form part of national programmes of work

Management, co-ordination and motivation of a multi-disciplinary project team of 5 - 35 staff, including clinicians, nursing staff, support staff, voluntary workers, suppliers, IT experts, and contractors

Main duties of the job

The Senior Project Manager supports the Digital Programme Manager in delivery of Trust's Digital Strategy Programme

Provides project management and leadership for IT/Systems development / change projects across the Trust, ensuring that key target dates and standards are met

Reports to the Digital Programme Manager and will have responsibility for specific projects and project budgets as delegated by the Digital Programme Manager

Shares best practice and acts as mentor to junior/temporary Project Managers /Project Support Officers and also provides advice to 3rd party project managers, engaged in Trust project work, as to the project delivery standards and methodology used within the Trust.

Engages effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside of the Trust, securing involvement in and commitment to the project.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Prince2 Practitioner certification or previous experience of project management within a Prince2 environment.
  • Hold a specialist IM&T/business management qualification, formal project management qualification, or, equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Change Management

Skills

Essential

  • Extensive practical knowledge of Project Management procedures (Prince 2)
  • IT systems contract knowledge
  • Expert use of MS Office and Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of current legislation affecting managing, using and storing information such as Confidentiality, Freedom of Information, Data Protection Act and Caldicott

Desirable

  • Understanding of the role of health informatics; full understanding of the strategic implications of IM&T in the NHS

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in a senior management role in a complex, customer focused organisation;
  • Proven experience in supplier management and contract negotiation, gained in a senior role
  • Demonstrable capability of delivering major projects on time, to an agreed quality and budget

Desirable

  • NHS Health informatics
