Senior Project Surveyor
About the Role
We are an office of 50 professionals, including 25 Cost Managers, delivering construction solutions to a diverse client base. As a Senior Project Surveyor you will support or lead on medium to large‑size Healthcare, Life Sciences, Defence or Tertiary Education projects across the full project lifecycle – from business case development and design through procurement, site delivery, commissioning and defects management.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective support to Cost Managers, Graduates and Apprentices.
- Ensure commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the project team.
- Manage the delivery of cost‑management outputs in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards.
- Provide full cost‑management duties to AECOM clients.
- Demonstrate high flexibility, creativity, excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:- Degree qualified – BSc or MSc in a construction‑related discipline (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, Commercial Management).
- Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build long‑term relationships with all team members, balancing people and processes.
- Self‑motivated individual from a consultancy or client organisation, capable of working independently and within a wider team.
- Proven experience in a consulting environment providing the full spectrum of Cost‑management services (pre‑contract estimating, procurement, contract administration, cost reporting, final account resolution).
- Core measurement skills with experience of quantified procurement routes.
- Experience managing internal resources, including training and mentoring junior staff (advantageous).
- Good understanding of contracts (JCT and NEC).
- Professionally qualified – ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying status with RICS, CIOB or another equivalent institution.
- Full clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- CSCS card holder.
