Senior Property Solicitor
Senior Property Solicitor | Surrey Heath Borough Council
£55,526 - £62,074 | Camberley | Hybrid working, 1 day per week in the office
Increase your chances of reaching the interview stage by reading the complete job description and applying promptly.
Surrey Heath Borough Council is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Property Solicitor to join its Legal and Democratic Services team.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a property lawyer who enjoys high-value transactional work with a genuine commercial dimension. You will take the lead on property legal work connected with the Council's retail property portfolio, including its shopping centre, while also advising across a diverse commercial estate.
The role
You will handle a broad and complex caseload including but not limited to commercial landlord and tenant work, acquisitions and disposals, and strategic advice relating to Council's property estate.
The Council's portfolio includes a shopping centre, industrial estates, office buildings and a range of other commercial properties, giving you the opportunity to work on varied and meaningful property matters rather than a narrow transactional caseload.
Why Surrey Heath?
There is a lot to like about this role beyond the work itself:
- 1 day per week in the office, with significant flexibility around working arrangements
- Flexible working hours
- Full-time or part-time working can be considered
- No time recording
- A friendly and supportive working environment
- A well-planned workload with good visibility of upcoming deadlines
- Minimum 25 days' annual leave
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- Free parking
This is an opportunity to join a legal team where you can take genuine ownership of significant property work, develop your commercial expertise and have a direct influence on how the Council manages some of its key assets.
What we're looking for
You'll ideally be a qualified solicitor with around 4+ years' PQE and solid experience in commercial property. Experience can come from either local government or private practice, so this could suit someone looking to move into the public sector as well as an established local authority property lawyer.
You'll need strong technical property knowledge, sound commercial judgement and the ability to advise confidently at a senior level. Experience of landlord and tenant work is particularly relevant.
PQE is a guide rather than a barrier. Surrey Heath is open to considering candidates with the right experience and capability.
Interested?
If you're a property solicitor considering your next move, I'd be very happy to have a confidential conversation about the role and what Surrey Heath Borough Council can offer. xwzovoh
