Role Description The Senior Quantity Surveyor role is a full-time, on-site position based in Widnes. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage cost planning and control across multiple construction and civil engineering projects, from tender stage through to final account. Daily tasks include preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), monitoring budgets, tracking change control, and producing accurate cost reports for internal and external stakeholders. The role involves evaluating subcontractor quotations, managing contract documentation, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project managers and site teams to provide commercial guidance, support risk management, and help maintain project profitability and value for money.

Qualifications

  • Strong cost management capabilities, including Cost Control, Cost Planning, and Cost Reporting.
  • Proficiency in BOQ preparation, measurement, and valuation, with solid knowledge of standard methods of measurement.
  • Experience in construction or civil engineering projects, with a clear understanding of contracts, procurement, and commercial risk.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate with project teams, clients, and suppliers.
  • Competence in relevant software tools (e.g., MS Excel, cost management systems) and willingness to adopt new technologies.
  • Typically holds a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline; professional membership (e.g., RICS or working towards it) is an advantage. xwzovoh
