Senior Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home Location: Wigan Salary: £14.20 per hour + £50 per sleep-in Hours: Full-time Role: Senior Residential Support Worker We are currently recruiting for experienced Senior Residential Support Workers to join children’s residential homes across St Helens and Wigan. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people and wants to take the next step in their career. The role As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people aged 8–18. You will help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment while supporting young people with their emotional, social and practical development. You will also take a lead role within the home, supporting the wider staff team and helping to ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans and safeguarding requirements. Key responsibilities * Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people * Building positive, trusting relationships with young people * Supporting emotional wellbeing and development * Managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner * Acting as a positive role model * Supporting staff within the home and providing guidance when required * Completing accurate records, reports and handovers * Following safeguarding and child protection procedures * Working alongside managers and external professionals * Promoting independence and helping young people develop life skills * Taking responsibility for the home and young people during shifts when required About you We are looking for candidates who have: * Previous experience working within a children’s residential setting * Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour * A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people * Strong communication and relationship-building skills * The ability to remain calm under pressure * A professional and resilient approach * The confidence to take responsibility and lead by example * A Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People or equivalent is desirable What’s on offer? * £14.20 per hour * £50 per sleep-in * Full-time employment * Opportunity to progress within the organisation * Ongoing training and development * Supportive working environment * The opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people
