Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader Location: Milton Keynes Salary: £14.00–£15.50 per hour, depending on experience Home: Brand-new 3-bed EBD children’s home We are recruiting an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader for a brand-new three-bed children’s home in Milton Keynes. The home will support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and already has an excellent Registered Manager in post. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the culture of a new service and build a safe, positive and nurturing environment from the outset. The role As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will: * Lead and support the staff team during shifts * Provide high-quality, child-centred care * Build meaningful and consistent relationships with the children * Act as a positive role model for both children and colleagues * Support the Registered Manager with the smooth running of the home * Allocate tasks and provide guidance to less-experienced team members * Complete and oversee records, handovers and incident reports * Ensure care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures are followed * Support children with education, activities, appointments and independence skills * Respond confidently and calmly to challenging behaviour * Contribute to team meetings, supervisions and service development What we’re looking for The successful candidate will ideally have: * Experience working within a children’s residential care setting * Previous senior or shift-leading experience * A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, or a commitment to completing it * A strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care * The confidence to lead shifts and make appropriate decisions * A calm, resilient and compassionate approach * Strong communication and record-keeping skills * Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins This is an excellent opportunity to join a new home with a highly regarded manager, play an important part in developing the service and progress as the organisation grows.
