Senior Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineer Client: BAE Systems Location: Warton, Prestwick or Brough Contract Length: 12 months Hybrid: onsite – Full time 37 hours per week Rate: £31.60 PAYE or £42.50 Umbrella inside IR35

Overview

This is an opportunity to work on complex aerospace projects, contributing to structural analysis activities across metallic and composite aircraft structures. You will play a key role in delivering high quality engineering solutions while supporting and developing junior engineers within the team. Clearance requirement: Eligible for SC clearance and UK eyes only

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out structural sizing and analysis for aircraft structures.
• Performing structural assessments using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and traditional hand calculations.
• Undertaking fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
• Defining and delivering engineering analysis tasks for yourself and members of the wider team.
• Demonstrating that structural designs meet relevant certification and project requirements.
• Supporting the development and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
• Working closely with engineering colleagues, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Developing efficient and effective engineering processes and working practices.
• Preparing and delivering technical reports and presentations for a range of audiences.

Key Skills

• Demonstrable experience working within a Design or Structures Engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft structural analysis, including metallic and/or composite structures.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and traditional structural calculations.
• Experience in areas such as structural sizing, fatigue or damage tolerance analysis.
• The ability to supervise, mentor and develop junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills, with experience producing technical reports and presentations.
