London | Private Planning Consultancy | Permanent
The Opportunity
A well-established and highly regarded independent planning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Town Planner to join its London team.
The consultancy works across a diverse range of high-profile development projects, advising private clients, developers, landowners and investors on complex planning matters throughout London and the wider UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planner looking to take the next step in their career within a respected consultancy where they will have significant responsibility, direct client exposure and the opportunity to work closely with senior members of the team.
The Role
As a Senior Town Planner, you will play a key role in managing a varied caseload of planning projects from inception through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of planning projects across a range of sectors and development types.
- Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
- Providing strategic planning advice to clients and project teams.
- Undertaking planning appraisals and development feasibility work.
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
- Managing projects, deadlines and budgets effectively.
- Supporting more junior members of the planning team.
- Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the consultancy.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- MRTPI qualification, or be working towards chartership.
- Previous experience within a planning consultancy or similar private-sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of the London planning system.
- Experience managing planning applications and projects independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and client-management ability.
- The confidence to take ownership of projects and develop client relationships.
Why Join?
This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants more than simply processing planning applications.
You will join a highly experienced planning team, gain exposure to interesting and complex development projects, and have the opportunity to work directly with clients and senior decision-makers.
The consultancy offers a more personal and entrepreneurial environment than some of the larger multidisciplinary practices, meaning your work will have genuine visibility and impact.
There is also a clear opportunity to develop professionally, broaden your project experience and progress your career within a growing and well-regarded private-sector planning business.
