Job summary

West Hampstead Medical Centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and forward-thinking GP for 2-6 sessions per week. We are a large and thriving teaching practice situated in a leafy part of West Hampstead. You would be part of a committed and stable clinical and practice team providing GP services to the local population. We are recruiting due to an expanding list size.

We use EMIS & Docman10 and have a well trained admin team to support clinicians.

Unusually for Inner London, we have bright and airy purpose-built premises and are well connected to the tube, the overground network as well as buses.

We are among the highest QOF achievers, and achieve above average on KPIs for enhanced services.

We support all our staff to achieve their goals and actively encourage professional development.

We recognise that General Practice is a stressful job and provide regular admin sessions and support for admin tasks such as referrals and docman to minimise the burden on the clinicians. We are supported by an experienced Clinical Pharmacist, 2 Physician Associates, 1 Practice Nurse and 1 Nurse Associate, along with a skilled administrative team.

  • 6 weeks pro rata AL + bank Holidays
  • 1 week Study leave pro rata
  • 1 admin session fortnightly (pro rata if you work less than 6 sessions weekly)
  • Salary flexible depending on experience
  • Christmas Bonus paid

We welcome all applications. You are welcome to view our website or visit the practice by prior arrangement.

Main duties of the job

To provide GP services to our diverse, young population. This includes acute problems, chronic disease management, some housebound patients (no care homes), using a variety of access points such as telephone consultations, video consultations and face to face and home visits where needed.

You will have regular booked clinics and take part in the duty doctor rota which is typically 2-3 days/month and we allocate generous protected time for this role.

We hold a weekly clinical meeting which our in-house psychiatrist attends as well as MDM's with the paediatric team at the local hospital, the palliative care team and the Health Visitors.

We would want you to support our educational activities such as training Physician associates, GP trainees and Medical Students when needed.

The role includes usual admin duties such as daily scripts and results, supported by our pharmacist. We gave a highly skilled admin team to deal with referrals and docman so this is kept to a minimum for clinicians.

About us

We are a team of 17 GPs including 3 partners, in addition 5 GP Trainees, 2 Physician Associates, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 Nurse Associate and 1 Clinical Pharmacist. We take part in Erasmus exchanges, so far from Holland and Italy.

We link in to the monthly MDMS such as paediatrics, palliative care and the health visiting service.

We are rated 'good' by CQC and have an active patient Experience Group.

We organise in house educational sessions including mandatory BLS.

We have communal space for lunch and value the supportive and nurturing ethos the practice thrives on.

We have a fantastic reception and admin team.

We are part of a high achieving PCN.

You are welcome to come and visit our friendly and supportive practice!

Naturally we offer the NHS pension scheme and cover medical defence fees.
