Software Engineer – Salesforce Platform
37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday - hybrid working.
2 days per week in Cardiff Office
Salary £50 - 60k+ depending on experience
12 month fixed-term contract, with potential to extend
Atamis is a Salesforce ISV based in Cardiff city centre. We build and evolve a single procurement platform used across the UK public sector - local authorities, NHS trusts, universities and central government - to manage how public money gets spent. It’s an established product with real reach and impact.
That makes this quite different from Salesforce consultancy. Rather than moving between client implementations every few months, you'd be working on a well-established single product, so what you build stays in use rather than being handed over and forgotten. There’s plenty to get your teeth into: designing upgrades that land cleanly across hundreds of differently configured customer orgs, building integrations with customers’ existing systems, and rolling out new Lightning Web Component interfaces across an established product.
We're a small, collaborative engineering team that mentors properly and takes real ownership of its DX. Several of the tools we use daily were built, maintained & improved, in-house by the engineers who use them. We follow agile development practices, working with GitLab, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews and AI-assisted development across the team, and our culture encourages everyone to participate in continuous improvement. Our office is just a two-minute walk from Cardiff Central, so the commute works whether you're coming from Bristol, Newport, the Valleys or somewhere more local.
This role is offered as a 12 month fixed-term contract. Our development team is growing and we would very much hope to extend it, either as a further fixed term or as a permanent role.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain features across Apex and Lightning Web Components within our core product
- Design and deliver upgrades that install cleanly across hundreds of customer orgs
- Build and support integrations with customers’ existing systems using Salesforce APIs and established integration patterns
- Work with Product, QA, Support and Client Success colleagues, keeping communication clear throughout
- Participate in continuous improvement of developer tooling
- Contribute to sprint planning, retros and the wider agile cycle
- Maintain clear technical documentation for the solutions you build
Skills and Experience
- Experience with RESTful APIs and integration patterns
- Confident with Git-based version control and disciplined deployment practices
- An investigative streak, and the patience to find the real cause rather than the first plausible one
- An eye for what will still make sense to someone reading it in three years
- A clear communicator, comfortable with both technical and non-technical colleagues
- Experience of managed packages would be an advantage
If you don’t match all of the above, we’d still love to hear from you – we hire for potential as well as experience, and we’re happy to help good engineers become excellent ones.
