Solicitor
SOLICITOR Solicitor | 4+ PQE | Leeds | Salary £55,000+
Use your litigation experience in a modern, specialist law firm where strong legal judgement, practical problem-solving and client-focused advice make a real difference. We welcome applications from solicitors with more extensive experience and will review salary accordingly.
Looking for a solicitor role that feels different from traditional practice?
If you are a qualified solicitor who enjoys litigation but wants a faster-paced, more commercially focused environment, this is an opportunity to broaden your career with BW Legal, a modern, specialist law firm with the scale, systems and support to help you develop in a different direction.
We know some candidates may hear “debt recovery” and wonder whether this is the right move for them. The reality is a legal role with variety, responsibility and pace: resolving disputes, assessing risk, advising clients, supporting fair outcomes and helping shape how specialist litigation is delivered at scale.
Debt recovery experience is not required. We value strong legal judgement, confidence with litigation procedure and a willingness to learn a specialist area, supported by full in‑house training and support from experienced litigators.
The role would suit a solicitor with strong contentious experience, or someone from another legal background, who wants to apply their skills in a high-volume, client-focused and commercially driven setting.
Why this could be a different kind of legal career move
This is a chance to use your solicitor experience in a new way, with the backing of a supportive legal team and a business that invests in training, wellbeing and progression. You will build specialist litigation expertise, work with experienced colleagues and have a visible role in a growing team where good judgement and contribution are recognised.
It is office based because collaboration, learning and team support matter here - but the environment is modern, business casual and built around colleague wellbeing.
The work you’ll be involved in
- Supporting the team: supervise, mentor and support junior solicitors, paralegals and litigation support staff.
- Managing legal work: draft high-quality legal documentation, including statements of case, applications, witness statements and technical correspondence.
- Providing technical guidance: act as a trusted senior point of escalation on more complex or higher-risk matters.
- Contributing to leadership: work collaboratively with other Senior Solicitors to support the Head of Department on workflow, quality standards and team performance.
- Improving how we work: share ideas to streamline processes, improve efficiency and enhance litigation outcomes.
- Building client relationships: provide clear, commercially focused advice and maintain regular communication with clients.
Who we think will thrive in this role
You may already be working in litigation, or you may be a solicitor from another practice area who is ready for a fresh challenge in a faster-paced company environment. Debt recovery experience can be helpful, but it is not essential. If you have sound legal judgement, strong drafting skills and an interest in developing specialist litigation expertise, we will provide the training, guidance and support you need to succeed.
What matters most is your judgement, your approach to problem-solving and your ability to work collaboratively with others. You should be able to demonstrate:
- Qualification as a solicitor with a minimum of 4 years’ PQE, ideally with experience of litigation, dispute resolution, regulated work or client‑facing legal advice.
- Strong legal reasoning, procedural awareness and the confidence to develop expertise in a specialist area of litigation with full in‑house training.
- A pragmatic, solution‑focused approach, with the ability to give practical advice and support positive outcomes for clients.
- A collaborative, resilient and proactive style, with an interest in supporting others and contributing to a senior leadership layer within the team.
