Long Term Futures is seeking a caring and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Dudley. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will play a vital role in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to succeed.
About the Role
Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and the wider support team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, SEMH, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through tailored learning activities and interventions
Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence, and social skills
Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour using consistent strategies
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries
Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and the SEN team
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or other additional needs
Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and work effectively as part of a team
Reliable, proactive, and committed to making a positive impact
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
