At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

B&NES Housing Services is seeking a Specialist Domestic Violence & Abuse Housing Advisor to join our busy Housing Options team.

About the Team & Role

Domestic Violence & Abuse puts families and single people in crisis, facing uncertain futures and needing to find safe accommodation. When this happens, we want to make sure that B&NES Council responds in the best way possible. To help us do this, we are seeking someone who has a strong working knowledge of homelessness law, an IDVA qualification and excellent interpersonal skills. The postholder will receive referrals of new cases and work with individuals to identify the solution that works for them. They will understand the nature of domestic abuse and how safe accommodation and refuge provides a way out, using the law and good practice, strong partnership working and negotiation skills. An opportunity to help improve our response is included, as we aim to achieve accreditation, a piece of work this postholder will contribute to.

This post is funded by grant from MHCLG and is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2029.
