Specialty Doctor - Langley Green Hospital
Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated substantive Specialty Doctor to join Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust at our Adult Inpatient Mental Health Ward Coral Ward located in Langley Green Hospital, Crawley, West Sussex.
Coral Ward is a 19 bed mixed inpatient facilities for working-age adults experiencing mental health crises and requiring acute hospital admission. Both wards have a full-time substantive consultant, as well as clinical fellows.
The wards operate with a well-established multidisciplinary team (MDT), including an Occupational Therapist, Activity Workers, Clinical Psychologist, nursing staff, and experienced Ward managers.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, energetic, and committed to delivering high-quality care to patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions. They will ensure that assessments and interventions are provided in a sensitive, accessible, and culturally appropriate manner. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with consultants and senior Managers to contribute to local service development.

Main duties of the job
The position requires full GMC registration, and we are looking for candidates with at least 2 years' experience in psychiatry to work across 2 acute psychiatric wards for inpatients.
Applicants should have experience of team working, good organisation skills and be able to work on their own initiative. Effective communication and empathic skills are essential.

Essential
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Desirable
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Desirable
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
Qualifications
Essential
- MB BS or equivalent medical Qualification
- 4 years at full-time postgraduate training or higher or equivalent experience with at least 2 years in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty
Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
