About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sub Agent with a strong background in highways and major civil engineering projects to join a leading delivery team working on the HS2 programme at Chipping Warden. This role will play a key part in the safe and efficient delivery of highways, earthworks, drainage and associated civil engineering works on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager and Site Agent in the successful delivery of highways and civil engineering works.
Manage sections of work to ensure delivery against programme, budget, quality and safety objectives.
Oversee subcontractors, suppliers and site teams on a day-to-day basis.
Ensure works are carried out in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements.
Produce and review RAMS, ITPs, work package plans and short-term programmes.
Monitor progress, identify risks and implement mitigation measures.
Ensure compliance with HS2, client and company health, safety and environmental standards.
Liaise with engineers, commercial teams, planners and stakeholders to coordinate project activities.
Support NEC contract administration and change management processes.
Drive a positive safety culture and promote continuous improvement across the project.
Requirements
Proven experience working as a Sub Agent, Site Agent or Section Engineer on major infrastructure or highways projects.
Strong background in highways construction, including:
Road construction
Drainage
Earthworks
Pavements
Structures interfaces
Traffic management
Experience delivering projects for Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure joint ventures.
Good understanding of NEC contracts.
Knowledge of quality assurance processes and technical compliance.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications desirable.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
Experience on National Highways schemes, major road improvement projects or large-scale infrastructure programmes.
Previous involvement with HS2, rail civils, heavy civils or complex multidisciplinary projects.
Temporary Works awareness and construction planning experience
