Job Purpose
To provide compassionate, person-centred care and support to adults and elderly individuals with learning disabilities within a residential care home. The role focuses on promoting independence, dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life while ensuring safety, safeguarding, and respect at all times.
Key Responsibilities
1. Person-Centred Care
- Deliver high-quality personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and continence support.
- Support mobility using appropriate equipment (hoists, wheelchairs, walking aids) where trained.
- Encourage and promote independence in daily living skills.
- Follow individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Support residents to make choices and maintain control over their lives.
2. Support for Elderly Needs
- Understand and respond to age-related conditions (e.g., dementia, reduced mobility, sensory impairments).
- Monitor and report changes in physical health or cognitive ability.
- Provide companionship and emotional reassurance.
- Support palliative or end-of-life care sensitively where required.
