Position Overview: We are looking for two reliable and motivated Surfacing Operatives to join our surfacing team based in Inverness. In this hands-on role, you will support the delivery of road surfacing and highway maintenance projects across the Inverness area and surrounding locations, working as part of a skilled crew to lay and finish asphalt safely and efficiently. This is a site-based role that involves working outdoors, travelling to various project locations, and operating as part of a team to ensure work is completed to a high standard of quality and safety. Nightshift working is a requirement of this position. Key Responsibilities * Assist with the laying, raking, levelling, and finishing of asphalt materials * Support the operation of surfacing plant, tools, and equipment * Carry out site preparation and general labouring duties before, during, and after surfacing works * Work closely with the Foreperson and wider surfacing squad to complete projects safely and efficiently * Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of plant, equipment, and PPE * Follow site instructions, safe systems of work, and company procedures at all times * Maintain a clean and safe working environment * Report any safety concerns, incidents, defects, or near misses promptly * Work flexibly across different sites and shifts, including night work where required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential * Good teamwork and communication skills * Positive attitude with a willingness to learn * Commitment to working safely and following procedures * Flexible approach to working hours and site locations Desirable * CSCS card * Full UK driving licence * Previous experience in surfacing, construction, highways, or a similar environment Training and Development Full training will be provided, offering opportunities to develop new skills, gain industry-recognised qualifications, and build a long-term career within Breedon.
