Most technical author roles are writing roles. This one is a systems design role where the output happens to be documentation. Salary & package £45,000–£52,000 dependent on experience. Fixed-term maternity cover, with a genuine route to a permanent role. Office-based, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire About NoMuda NoMuda has been building VisualFactory, a manufacturing execution system, for over 25 years. It runs on the shop floors of manufacturers including Volvo, Bombardier and ThyssenKrupp, controlling and recording complex assembly and production processes. The team is around 50 people across the UK and US, with most of the UK team based near Stratford-upon-Avon. Lean principles run through how the company builds and works: “muda” is Japanese for waste. The role This hire covers maternity leave, but the plan is for it to become permanent if you build the function well. You'll design and run a documentation workflow where generative AI produces first drafts and you provide the technical understanding and editorial judgement to make them accurate. Get it right, and implementation teams move faster, customers adopt quicker, and support calls go down. Key responsibilities You'll: Build prompts, templates and pipelines that turn changelogs, Jira tickets, specs and recordings into structured first drafts Own the information architecture and style guide for the whole documentation set Produce and maintain functional documentation, process guides and release notes as the product evolves Work with development, implementation and customer success to capture knowledge and check technical accuracy Set the quality standard for documentation and report against it What you'll bring Essential: Solid technical writing experience on enterprise, industrial or otherwise complex software Hands-on experience using generative AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar) inside a real, production documentation workflow, with output you can talk through at interview Strong prompting skills: getting well-structured, accurate first drafts from large language models Sharp editorial judgement: spotting where AI-generated content is wrong, ambiguous or subtly off, and fixing it The ability to understand a deep technical product and write clearly about it for audiences from shop-floor operators to integration engineers Useful, not essential: Background in MES, ERP or manufacturing software Docs-as-code experience: Markdown, Git and platforms such as Docusaurus, GitBook, Confluence or MadCap Flare Experience building AI-assisted documentation pipelines or automations API and integration documentation experience Benefits & culture Company catered lunches every 2 weeks Onsite Gym Dog Friendly Office Stunning rural location for walks EV Scheme (salary Sacrifice) Company Sick Pay Working arrangements Location: Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire (B95)  |  Office-based, five days a week Contract: Fixed-term maternity cover, with a genuine route to permanent This role is deliberately office-based, so you can work directly alongside developers, implementation consultants and customer success day to day.
