Job Title: Technical Author Location: Cambridge Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 Employment Type: Permanent Working Arrangements: Onsite working We’re partnering with a highly respected engineering business in Cambridge to appoint a Technical Author with proven experience in optics, lasers or photonics. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning complex technical detail into clear, consistent product content that genuinely supports end‑users and internal teams. What You’ll Be Doing - Creating high‑quality documentation across product manuals, datasheets, user guides and application notes - Maintaining consistent tone, terminology and structure across all product content - Translating optical/photonics concepts into accessible, customer‑friendly language - Ensuring documentation aligns with quality, regulatory and compliance requirements - Supporting new product introductions with structured, accurate content packages What Our Client Is Looking For - Proven experience as a Technical Author within optics, lasers, photonics or a related engineering field - Strong ability to produce clear, concise and consistent technical content - Solid understanding of optical systems, laser technologies, photonics components or instrumentation - Confidence interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and test data - Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams - High attention to detail and a structured approach to documentation management Desirable Skills - Familiarity with ISO standards or regulated environments - Background in physics, engineering or a related technical discipline - Familiar with SEO Why This Role Stands Out - Opportunity to work with cutting‑edge optical and photonics technologies - Supportive, knowledge‑sharing engineering cultur - Genuine scope to influence documentation strategy and product communication For more information, please contact Cathy Swain.  T: (phone number removed) E: (url removed)
