Technical Production Manager

Up to £65k Our client, a large manufacturing business in the Leeds area have an immediate requirement to recruit a Technical Production Manager. In this role youlead our the manufacturing operations. This senior role is responsible for delivering world-class production performance, maximising machine uptime, and ensuring quality, efficiency and safety standards are consistently achieved. Reporting into the Operations Director, you will act as the technical authority for all micro coil processes and equipment, driving continuous improvement, developing manufacturing capability, and leading production teams to deliver exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead daily operations to achieve output, quality and customer service targets.
Improve KPIs including productivity, scrap, efficiency, downtime, labour utilisation and OEE.
Optimise labour and machine utilisation to ensure smooth production flow.
Provide technical leadership across all micro coil machinery, automation and processes.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mechanical, electrical and process issues.
Enhance equipment reliability through structured engineering interventions and preventative maintenance.
Support new machinery installation, commissioning and optimisation.
Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma and CI initiatives.
Reduce waste and defects while embedding standardised work and best practices.
Champion quality, ensuring all products meet customer and internal specifications.
Lead safety performance, risk assessments and incident investigations.
Develop and lead teams including supervisors, team leaders and operators.
Support strategic planning including capacity modelling, labour planning and investment decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, quality, supply chain and NPD.
Manage budgets, labour costs and material usage, delivering cost-saving initiatives. Key Skills & Experience:
A strong technical background in manufacturing engineering or high-volume production.
Experience working with automated equipment and improving machine performance.
Confidence diagnosing mechanical, electrical and process faults.
A track record of delivering productivity, efficiency and quality improvements.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate and build engaged teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Ideally: Lean, Six Sigma, IOSH/NEBOSH or similar qualifications. This is a permanent role where you will be expected to work regular office hours Monday to Friday. There is some flex with this. In return you can expect a salary of up to £65k dependant on previous experience.
