Technical Project Manager - Hardware / Electronics

iO Associates are supporting an established UK engineering organisation with an excellent reputation for designing and developing advanced technology products used by customers around the world.

Following continued investment in R&D and the launch of a major new development programme, they’re looking to appoint an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex hardware engineering projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with engineering teams and wants to play a key role in bringing innovative products from concept through to delivery.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary hardware development projects.
  • Background in electronics, embedded systems, telecommunications, semiconductor, defence, aerospace or other high-technology engineering environments.
  • Experience delivering New Product Introduction (NPI) or complex hardware product development programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Project and Jira.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex hardware and software product development projects from concept through to completion.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across electronics, embedded software, FPGA, application software and mechanical engineering.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and resource forecasts.
  • Identify and manage project risks, dependencies and technical challenges.
  • Work closely with Product Management to support product roadmaps and development priorities.
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and project delivery methodologies.
  • Line management and mentoring of engineering team members where required.

Highly desirable experience

  • Telecommunications or wireless technologies.
  • Test & Measurement products.
  • Embedded software and FPGA development environments.
  • Transitioning products from development into manufacturing.
  • Working with external development partners.
