Job Description Job Title: HGV Class 2 Driver Location: Walthamstow Employment Type: Ongoing, Temp to Perm Available Salary Detail: Range: 18.06 20.27 per hourJob Description We are currently seeking experienced and reliable HGV Class 2 Drivers to join the despatch team of a major bakery distribution centre in Walthamstow . The role involves multi-drop deliveries of bakery goods to major retailers and distribution points, with an emphasis on physical activity and safety compliance.This is a 7-day operation , and candidates must be available for flexible shift patterns , including weekends and nights. Deliveries are made using barn-door vehicles and tail-lifts , and all product handling is done using wheeled bread dollies .Shift Pattern:Night Deliveries: Minimum 4 shifts per week availableRotational Routing: Drivers typically rotate through 34 regular delivery routesKey Responsibilities Multi-drop deliveries to supermarkets, petrol stations, and commercial sitesManual handling of bread dollies (pushing/pulling/loading/unloading)Operation of tail-lift vehicles and use of PDAs for delivery trackingRoute familiarisation and safe vehicle handlingCommunication of any delays, issues, or compliance breaches to the depotRequirements Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licenceValid CPC and UK-issued Digital Tachograph CardMinimum 12 months recent Class 2 experience (longer preferred)Maximum 6 points on licence (minor only no DR, DD, or IN codes)Physical fitness to complete full shifts and handle frequent loading tasksFamiliarity with PDA devices and multi-drop delivery processesFull PPE: Safety footwear, gloves, hi-vis vestMust hold or be eligible for a Site Passport CardInduction & Assessment:Unpaid assessment (approx. 2 hours)Paid 8-hour induction includes theory test (driver hours, WTD), vehicle check, and site inductionMinimum 2-day shadowing with experienced driversFailed assessments result in a 3-month wait period before reassessmentBenefits Weekly pay via integrated clock-in systemAccess to canteen, secure entry, and on-site facilitiesStable ongoing shifts (minimum 4 per week if trained)Opportunity to move into Temp-to-Perm roles for reliable driversPay Rates PAYE:Day Shift: £18.06per hour + HolidayNight Shift: £20.27 per hour + HolidayHow To Apply If you meet the above requirements and are ready to take on this exciting opportunity, we want to hear from you!
